Girl in hospital after being beaten by boys

An 18-year-old girl is battling for her life at Mchinji District Hospital after being heartlessly beaten by eight boys for turning down their proposal.

The girl, a form one student at Ludzi Community Day Secondary School in the district was beaten at her house at Ludzi Trading Centre last weekend.

Mchinji Police community policing coordinator, Malango Mwasinga, said police have already arrested the eight suspects.

“The victim told us that two weeks ago she turned down proposals of two of the eight suspects who are also students at Ludzi Community Day Secondary School. They two apparently promised to deal with her in an unspecified way,” he said.

Mwasinga said the boys attacked the girl at around 8pm.

“She was beaten severely, especially in the private parts; her friends cried out for help and when neighbours came to her rescue, she was unconscious. They rushed her to Ludzi Health Centre where she was referred to Mchinji District Hospital,” he said.
